The touch of Zen
UK-based Zen Oracle is making a name among some of the best golf pros in the world with its unique RDE Mallet putter. Not only is this a very stable, well-designed and constructed putter, but it also serves as an award-winning training aid as well. Zen Oracle RDE Mallet is constructed with a hole in the body in which you may be able to place a golf ball. Several putting drills may be used to help you hone a stroke that is smooth and uninhibited, requiring you to release the ball at a specific target. The putter caught the attention of the Golf Digest Hot List panel and earned a “Hot Product” award in the 2008 survey. Of course, the RDE Mallet is more than just a putting aid. The best thing is that you can also skip the drills and use it like any other putter. The RDE Mallet conforms to USGA and R&A standards. Zen Oracle also has a line of well-crafted blade-style putters in a variety of head shapes and weights. PCF Golf Club Fitting Studio distributes them throughout the region. www.bigfishes.com |
| Dynamic momentum
Nike’s square drivers might not be the most conventional of clubs around but high performance is seldom conventional. The new SQ Dymo and Dymo2 drivers are the latest iterations of the brand’s big sticks. Now, more than ever, they proudly display Nike’s proficiency in pushing the envelope of technology. The basis of the Dymo came from Nike pros on the PGA working with specialist club-fitters to fine-tune their drivers for maximum performance. The resulting Dymo Technology – Dynamic Momentum of Inertia, that is – is suppose to incorporate optimal Nike PowerBow size, head size, lie angle and moment of inertia (MOI) to each available loft model. Nike’s PowerBow Technology aims at optimising weighting positions based on the various loft configurations. It is smallest in the 9.5° model with its deeper face and forward centre of gravity, and higher in the higher-lofted models to create higher launch angles and spin rates. Nike’s new SQ Dymo drivers come in two shapes. The SQ Dymo2 offers high MOI in the unique, square silhouette, while the SQ Dymo has a more traditional round shape for more precise control. The drivers (in lofts of 9.5° and 10.5° for the SQ Dymo, and 9.5°, 10.5° and HL in the SQ Dymo2) are available from this month at all authorised dealers at a suggested retail price of S$695. |
