Layer up to cool down
| Who would have thought that we could add one more layer to our outfits in order to cool ourselves down on a hot day? Recent technology in performance apparel has given rise to the Skins line of inner wear that reeks with as much technology as the latest driver in the shops.
Skins body-moulded compression sportswear (www. skins.net) is made from a special combination of Lycra and Meryl Microfiber, scientifically engineered to not only keep your body cool when the sun beats down, but to also offer support and muscle alignment. The apparel is endorsed by the Australian Physiotherapy Association and is supposed to offer its wearers a host of benefits, including reduction of lactic acid build-up and increased oxygen delivery, optimising body temperature in warm conditions, and providing SPF 50+ sun protection. Going a step further, Skins wear also purports, through the increased oxygenation and circulation provided, to relieve arthritis, varicose veins, deep vein thrombosis and chronic fatigue syndrome. Those unfamiliar with compression wear might be well advised to try out Skins. |

| Once on, the cool sensation it provides is just the thing to bring out on the golf course, even if you have another layer on. The muscle support it provides allows free movement to your swing, and your body stays dry and cool through the wicking function of the technologically advanced microfibre blend, leaving you comfortably dry through your entire round. To date, Skins performance wear is represented on the PGA Tour by Nick Flanagan (above), with a long list of athletes from other sports as well. |
